Holiday Tips

As the holiday gets well under way, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support over the past year.

We would like to also share some tips on mitigating risk in order to keep you, your families and your businesses safe over the holiday period.

As a proudly South African company, we will continue sharing the positive message and incredible opportunities our country has to offer whilst continually thriving in adding value and finding ways to make you look good in front of your clients.

  • If you are travelling take your vehicle in for a holiday check to ensure it is 100% roadworthy and ready for your travels.
  • If your vehicle is fitted with a tracking device, ensure that it is tested and fully operational. Reminder: car hire is limited to the cover in place on the client’s policy.
  • If travelling outside the borders of South Africa, remember to ensure you have arranged the necessary insurance cover and necessary cross border letters.
  • Log a test on all alarms, motion sensors and electric fences. During load shedding, alarm power packs and batteries deplete quickly. Ensure you have the necessary backups in place. CCTV cameras should also be checked as well as armed response where applicable.
  • Unplug appliances and electronic devices that may be vulnerable to power surges whilst away from home or during load shedding.
  • If you have a generator, ensure that the connections are tested as faulty connections could cause fire damage.
  • High value items are a target for criminals, with a major spike over this time of the year. Be aware of your surroundings, and refrain from wearing any high value jewellery or watches where possible.
  • High value items should also be locked away securely in a safe if the premises is left unattended over the holiday season.
